What Is Suruga-ya? Japan's Used Game and Collectables Shop
Suruga-ya is one of Japan's largest buy-and-resell chains for games, anime goods and collectables. What it sells, how to read its condition notes, and how to order from Thailand.
What is Suruga-ya?
Suruga-ya is a Japanese chain that buys used goods in and sells them on. It started as a small second-hand manga shop and grew into stores across the country plus a large online shop.
Unlike a resale app, the seller is the company. Every item is bought in, checked and priced by the shop, so prices are steadier and there is nobody to negotiate with.
It also carries new stock alongside used on the same page, so many items can be had either way.
What it sells
Its strongest category is games — cartridges and discs from the earliest consoles through to current ones, plus used consoles and accessories.
After that come manga, figures, trading cards, CDs, DVDs and anime collectables, a great many of them long out of production.
The real draw is older stock that ordinary shops no longer carry, because the chain keeps buying collections from people in Japan clearing out their shelves.
How to check the item details
Every listing states whether it is new or used, and used items always carry a condition grade.
What needs closer reading is completeness. Older items are often sold as the product alone, without the box, manual or the extras that originally came with it — which moves the price a lot.
A price that looks unusually low usually has its reason written into the details: marks, a missing label, or an item that could not be tested.
Can you order from Suruga-ya yourself in Thailand?
You cannot. Checkout is built around Japanese addresses and Japanese payment methods.
On top of that, nearly every used item is one of a kind, and older stock in good condition goes quickly — so waiting until you find a way to order yourself usually means losing that particular item.
What works instead is someone in Japan buying it and receiving it, then sending it on.
Ordering from Suruga-ya through Tama-Chan
Tama-Chan can order from Suruga-ya for you. Copy the product link and send it to an admin on LINE; the team checks the price and whether it is still in stock, then quotes a baht total.
If you cannot tell what the condition note says, send the link and have it read first. With older stock, two listings can differ only in whether the box survived — and cost several times as much.
Rates are on the service fee table, and the other shops are in the Japanese shop directory.
